why i’m now offering counselling in Birr, Co. Offaly

I’M EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT STARTING in NOVEMBER 2023 I’LL BE OFFERING PSYCHOTHERAPY AND COUNSELLING FROM ‘THE SPACE ABOVE’ HOLISTIC CENTRE IN BIRR, CO. OFFALY.

Expanding my psychotherapy practice to Co. Offaly was something I’d been thinking about for a while. Apart from some geographic considerations for me, why have I decided to offer psychotherapy in Birr?

rural mental health

Anybody can experience times when they feel that seeking out the support of a psychotherapist would be helpful. Of, course, it is not only city dwellers who experience depression, anxiety, grief, low self-esteem, relationship problems or any other issue that affects your mental health!

While the strong sense of community in a small town or rural area can be brilliant support when you are struggling, for some people they may feel isolated or stigmatised if they are struggling with their mental health in a small community. They may feel that the confidential support of a professional therapist would be of benefit to them.

Finding a counsellor in rural Ireland is not always easy. Counsellors may be fully booked, you may know them well personally and so be unable to see them for therapy, or they may not work with the issue you’re experiencing. I’m excited to offer another option for those seeking counselling in Birr and the surrounding areas.

birr is a convenient location for many

For all these reasons, I’d been thinking of expanding outside of Dublin for a while. When I saw that a therapy space was available to rent in The Space Above on Main Street in Birr, I was immediately interested.

First of all because it is a lovely holistic centre and Birr is a wonderful town. However, I also know that Birr is a great location because as well as being able to serve clients from the town, I would be accessible to clients in other nearby areas in Offaly like Banagher, Kilcormac, Cloghan and Ferbane.

I would also be able to offer counselling to clients coming from nearby Tipperary and Laois, from areas such as Roscrea, Borrisokane, Borris-in-Ossory and Mountrath.

I’m looking forward to offering confidential, non-judgemental counselling to those in Co. Offaly, Co. Tipperary, Co. Laois and other nearby areas.

I’LL STILL BE IN DUBLIN PART-TIME

While I’m excited to start offering counselling and psychotherapy in Co. Offaly, it doesn’t mean I’m leaving Dublin completely. I’ll still be offering psychotherapy from The Iveagh Practice, Wexford St, Dublin 2 for new and existing clients a couple of days a week. I’ll also continue to offer online therapy.

MY NEW LOCATION IN BIRR

So, from November 2023, I’ll be offering psychotherapy from The Space Above holistic centre in Birr, Co. Offaly. The centre is above the Organic Store on Main Street. It’s a lovely space with lots going on.

As a humanistic integrative psychotherapist, I work with individual adults experiencing many issues including depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and relationship issues. I have a particular interest in working with those experiencing bereavement, grief and loss. I also often work with people exploring their sexuality and gender.
